How the 14-Day Sugar Vaca Was Born (And Why I’m Still Doing It 11 Rounds Later)
It all started with a simple comment in my private women’s health Facebook group.
One of my high school friends posted, “I need a sugar detox.”
And then – boom. Dozens of people jumped in, commenting that they needed one too.
I just stared at the screen. Because, truthfully, a sugar detox wasn’t something I ever imagined leading. It didn’t align with my approach to health coaching, which is all about adding in instead of taking away. I believed in bio-individuality – the concept that what works for one person doesn’t work for another. I focused on primary foods (the things that nourish us beyond food: movement, relationships, fun, etc).
A restrictive sugar detox? Not my thing.
But I also felt a responsibility to my community. And – if I’m being honest – I felt a deep, unexplainable pull toward doing it.
So I poured my heart, soul, and hours of research into creating a free sugar detox program in a private Facebook group. Over 130 people joined that first round. And what happened next?
It was life-changing – for them. And for me.
Never Say Never
What I realized during that first round was this: a sugar detox isn’t just a food challenge. It’s an experience. An experiment of sorts. Something that can completely shift how you feel in your body and how you view food.
Because the truth is, food is powerful. And our food system? It’s sneaky.
Added sugar is in 70% of grocery store products. It hides in foods marketed as “healthy.” Even when we’re trying to eat well, we’re often over-consuming sugar without realizing it. And that overconsumption? It impacts everything – gut health (which is linked to immunity), metabolism, hormones, inflammation, energy levels, mood, sleep… the list goes on.
And I’ll be honest – at first, even I was nervous to do it.
I ate healthy most of the time, but ice cream was my thing. I had it every night. I told myself it wasn’t a problem because I ate mostly whole foods during the day. But what I hated was feeling powerless to my cravings. I didn’t want the ice cream, but I needed it.
It wasn’t until I took a break from sugar that I realized:
• I was sleeping better.
• My cravings almost disappeared.
• I wasn’t constantly battling that “need something sweet” feeling after meals.
• I was no longer controlled by food.
And that? That is food freedom.
Personally, I never thought I’d get there. But now, 11 rounds later, I don’t even think about ice cream at night. And that’s why I keep running this program.
Why do I run the Vaca over and over?
One of the biggest reasons I run the Sugar Vaca over and over again – and why so many people come back for a second, third, or even fourth round – is that every time, something new clicks. The first time, most people are learning the logistics – figuring out what to eat, what to avoid, how to navigate cravings. But by round 2, 3 or beyond, you start to realize: this is about so much more than food.
When you take a break from self-medicating with sugar and refined carbs like chips, you create space to sit with yourself and really get curious about what you actually need. Because let’s be honest – sugar doesn’t fill us up. It doesn’t satisfy or nourish us. So if we’re constantly reaching for it, what are we really craving?
Is it stress relief?
Is it connection?
Is it comfort?
Is it just boredom?
That’s where the real breakthroughs happen. The Sugar Vaca isn’t just about detoxing from sugar – it’s about peeling back the layers and understanding yourself on a deeper level.
And I say this not just as a coach – but as someone who’s been through it 11 times and keeps learning, growing, and evolving right alongside my Sugar Vacationers.
That’s why the Sugar Vaca isn’t just a one-and-done experience. Each round peels back another layer, helping you deepen your understanding of your body, your habits, and what truly fuels you – beyond just food.
Why the Sugar Vaca Is Different
I quickly realized that most sugar detoxes didn’t align with my health philosophy. But that didn’t mean I couldn’t do it differently.
Because here’s the thing – sugar addiction is very, very real. But the way most detoxes approach it? All restriction, no real-time support.
The 14-Day Sugar Vaca is the opposite.
It’s not about deprivation. It’s about adding in.
• More colorful, nourishing foods.
• More protein and healthy fats to balance blood sugar.
• More energy, focus, and stable moods.
• More food freedom.
And because I’m also trained in hypnotherapy, EFT (tapping), NLP, and breathwork, I now understand something crucial:
Sugar cravings aren’t just physical. They’re mental, emotional, and deeply rooted in the subconscious.
This is why my clients aren’t just seeing physical changes – they’re changing their entire relationship with food.
Why It’s Called the Sugar Vaca
I didn’t want this to feel like a diet – and the word “detox” just makes me feel restricted off the bat. So I called it a Sugar Vaca – because it’s a break, not a punishment.
This is not about quitting sugar forever. It’s about taking a pause to:
• Reset your body so healthy eating feels easier.
• Taste the natural sweetness in whole foods again.
• Break free from the cycle of cravings, energy crashes, and mood swings.
• Feel empowered and in control of your food choices.
It’s a game-changer. And I’ve seen it transform lives – including my own.
So if you’ve ever felt like sugar has a grip on you… if you’re tired of cravings calling the shots… if you just want to feel better in your body – this is for you.
Because nothing tastes as good as food freedom feels.
Let’s take a break from sugar – together.
